Sample Design
The selection of the sample of the Domestic Trade Index does not respond to a random process, but to a selection of sub-populations in each of the following aggregative levels: Companies, CNAE Subgroups, and Sector C of the Sectorial Classification of Trade used by EUSTAT. The distinct CNEA 46 and 47 subgroups, for the trade sector, come under these sectors. Selected entities must be representative of the three provinces that make up the Basque Country. The selection criteria in each of the aforementioned levels consist of guaranteeing a determined response rate in each of the levels in Sector C (over 75%).
The sampling panel of the Domestic Trade Index Base 2005 is not closed in the sense that it may vary from one period to another and enables the incorporation of new commercial establishments. The current sampling panel for the index is made up of 988 commercial businesses.
